15,000 travelers expected at Indianapolis airport Wednesday
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The day before Thanksgiving is one of the busiest travel days of the year. AAA expects 48.7 million Americans to travel more than 50 miles for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Officials at the Indianapolis International Airport expect 15,000 people to travel through the airport on Wednesday. Officials expect 17,000 people to pass through the airport on Sunday, as travelers head home after the holiday.
On Wednesday morning, travelers told 24-Hour News 8 the lines at Indianapolis International were moving smoothly.
TSA and airport officials recommend travelers give themselves extra time this week. TSA said passengers should get to the airport at least two hours before a flight’s scheduled departure.
Travelers can also save time by checking in and downloading their boarding pass online before going to the airport.
