16 Riley nurses deployed to Lafayette hospital to help with pandemic relief

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WISH) — Sixteen nurses from Riley Children’s Health are being deployed to IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette to help with the COVID-19 pandemic relief.

According to Kayla Meeks, a nurse at the Riley Hospital for Children, nurses at Arnett Hospital are handling a lot more patients than usual, so the help is much needed.

“They’ve just been willing to change and that’s not what they’re used to,” said Meeks.

“They’re obviously not used to taking that many patients, but we have helped, so it’s just a different kind of mindset of nursing and they’ve just been incredible,” said Meeks, “They’ve just been grateful for us to be there.”

Meeks says nurses at IU Health Arnett Hospital are handling six to eight patients each, which is something they are not used to.
