5 hurt in Tippecanoe Co. crash, girl airlifted to hospital

TIPPECANOE CO., Ind. (WLFI) – Five people were injured in a two-car crash after investigators say one of the drivers ran a stop sign Monday evening.

It happened at the intersection of CR 1050 East and CR 350 South around 5:30 p.m.

Tippecanoe County Dep. Dustin Oliver said a mother driving with her two young daughters in the car ran the stop sign, slamming into a pickup truck in front of the front tire on the passenger side. Both came to a stop in a nearby field.

The pickup was heading north on 1050 East and the car was driving west on 350 South.

All five people were taken to various hospitals.

One of the girls was airlifted to Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health in Indianapolis. The mother is believed to be OK. The other girl has unknown injuries.

The woman driving the pickup went into surgery Monday night with unknown injuries. Her daughter who was riding in the pickup has been released after getting treatment on an arm injury.

The scene was cleared about four hours later around 9:30 p.m.
