Indianapolis contractor installs new roof on 95-year-old woman’s home for free

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A 95-year-old Indianapolis woman’s house has a new roof, all because of a connection between made years ago between her and a local business.

Edna Beaty’s new roof came from Amos Exteriors, and it won’t cost her a thing.

Sales manager J. R. Lynch said that three years ago, he noticed Beaty’s aging home on the near east side needed some repairs, and he started helping her out for free.

“I adopted him right away,” Beaty laughed.

“She told me that she didn’t have any children and she really didn’t have anybody to take care of he,r and I just felt it was my duty to help her out as much as I could,” Lynch said.

Because of their relationship, when Lynch and company President Rob Amos learned her roof was in poor condition, they decided to build her a new one.

According to their assessments, the aging roof had been damaged by deterioration, but bullet holes caused problems like leaking as well.

“Just to see the smile on her face made me feel excited that I could know who she is,” Lynch said. “She was very grateful for us being here. That was all the payment that we needed.”

Amos Exteriors took just one day to build the roof.

When News 8’s Randall Newsome asked Beaty how she felt about getting the help, she said she felt “blessed.”
