Amazon suffers data breach ahead of Black Friday

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – Amazon has suffered a major data breach two days ahead of Black Friday.

In an e-mail sent to customers, the tech giant said the company had “inadvertently disclosed your name and email address due to a technical error.”

The firm said it does not know how many users were affected by the problem.

In a statement, Amazon said: “We have fixed the issue and informed customers who may have been impacted.”

“This is not a result of anything you have done, and there is no need for you to change your password or take any other action. The impacted customers have been contacted,” the statement continued.

The timing simply couldn’t be worse, considering we’re two days away from Black Friday. The backlash from customers has been strong.
