Clock running out to get health insurance
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Time is winding down for people to get health insurance coverage.
The deadline to sign up for the 2016 Marketplace health insurance is Monday, Feb. 1 at 3 a.m.
The Indianapolis Enrollment Assistance Center (4202 W. 56th Street) located inside the Guion Creek Shopping Center near Guion Road is offering free help today from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Workers said they haven’t heard anything about the government offering extensions to give people more time to get covered. Those who aren’t covered by health insurance will face a tax penalty of $650 per person in each household.
“Indianapolis has a specific advantage,” Site Supervisor Amanda Budzensk said. “So the Marketplace generates policies based off of market trends. This year the policies actually decreased by over 12 percent in Indiana.”
Those who need help signing up for health insurance after the assistance center is closed can call the Marketplace Call Center at 800-318-2596.
