Mother hospitalized with COVID-19 meets baby 2 months after giving birth

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Autumn Carver has been in the hospital battling COVID-19 since Aug. 27.

To make matters worse, she was 7 months pregnant. She had a cesarean section the same day, giving birth to Huxley.

After two months, Autumn got to hold Huxley for the first time Tuesday.

“My son’s birthday was the worst day of my life,” said Zach Carver, Autumn Carver’s wife.

“I’ve never had my whole family now under one roof,” said Zach Carver. “Still yet to do that — but to have my wife and son reunited for the first time after giving birth was very special. Emotional. I don’t know if there was a dry eye on the third floor of the hospital.”

The Carvers also have two little girls named Harlow and Sadie. Huxley is home with them and healthy. Autumn Carver’s family is now waiting for her to come home.

“She’s doing everything she can to get home to our kids. I’m very proud of her. She’s a miracle to still be alive, to be honest. She’s inspired and changed the mentality of a lot of people at the hospital that there is hope,” said Zach Carver.
