42-year-old man dead after near-southeast side shooting

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A man is dead after a Saturday morning shooting on the city’s near-southeast side, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

The man was identified Monday as 42-year-old Richard Pettry Jr. His cause and manner of death were not yet available, the Marion County Coroner’s Office said.

The shooting happened just before 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the 1500 block of East Minnesota Street. Police said the case was being treated as a homicide investigation, but provided no other details.

Pettry was taken to an area hospital where he later died from his injuries.
