Columbus woman arrested after police locate 100+ THC-laced brownies in her home

COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH) — A Columbus woman was arrested Wednesday after police found more than 100 THC-laced brownies inside her home.

Just before 3 p.m., officers with the Columbus Police Department were patrolling the 1300 block of Pear Street when they noticed the strong odor of marijuana coming from one of the residences.

Police say Courtney James, 37, exited the home, slammed the door and became belligerent with officers.

Officers later executed a search warrant for the home and located the brownies in plastic bags. They also found marijuana cigarettes, loose marijuana and syringes.

James faces the following charges: dealing marijuana, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting law enforcement.

The recreational use of marijuana is illegal in Indiana, although it’s legal in 18 states, the District of Columbia, the Northern Mariana Islands and Guam. Another 13 states and the U.S. Virgin Islands have decriminalized marijuana use.
