Police seek possible Indianapolis resident, a suspect in northern Indiana murders

WAUKEGAN, Ill. (WISH) — The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a male suspect, who is believed to be from Indianapolis, in connection to two 2019 homicides.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the Lake County Metro Homicide Unit is looking for help identifying the male.

Lavell Edmond, 13, and his mother, Temia Haywood, were murdered March 23, 2019, at their home on East 3rd Avenue in Gary, Ind.

Darren “Duke” Taylor, of Hammond, Ind., has been charged with their murders. Police released a photo of a second suspect, who has not yet been identified. Authorities believe the suspect is an Indianapolis resident.

The suspect was captured on video at the scene of the murders with Taylor. He was seen wearing a hooded sweatshirt and appears to have chin-length braids.
