Driver, child cut out of crashed vehicle
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Firefighters cut a driver and a child out of a vehicle involved in an early morning four-vehicle crash that closed an intersection in Fort Wayne.
Police were called around 9 a.m. Monday to the intersection of Jefferson Boulevard and Getz Road on a report of a crash there.
According to police, a pair of landscaping trucks were westbound on Jefferson when an eastbound red Ford Explorer attempted to turn on Getz. The landscaping trucks veered out the way and struck one another, police said. The Explorer, then, was struck by another Ford Explorer in the intersection.
A woman and child in the red Explorer became pinned when the SUV flipped onto its side. Crews had to cut the roof off to pull them from the vehicle, police said.
They were taken away in serious condition.
The driver of the other Explorer was also taken away from the scene in serious condition, police said.
The drivers of the landscaping trucks were not hurt.
The intersection was closed while crews cleaned up the wreckage.
