Grant provides Lawrence police with Narcan kits
LAWRENCE, Ind. (WISH) – The Lawrence Police Department will have a new weapon to combat heroin, Narcan.
They received a $5,000 grant from Drug Free Marion County.
This grant will provide 80 Narcan kits for police officers.
Narcan is a drug that helps reduce heroin and opiate-related overdoses.
“As a police department, we understand the life-saving need for these kits and the positive impact they provide to help address the heroin and opiate-related overdoes problem the state of Indiana faces,” said Lawrence Deputy Chief Curtis Bigsbee.
All Lawrence officers will be equipped with a kit by mid-March. And every officer will be trained on how to use the life-saving kit.
