IMPD catches man one hour after deadly shooting

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – In less than 24 hours, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department announced the arrest of a murder suspect.

According to IMPD, it unfolded in the 2900 block of East 38th Street at Clark’s gas station.

Police were called to the scene on Mother’s Day, just a little after 8 p.m., once there IMPD found 18-year-old Floyd Teague V, on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound.

An emergency crew rushed Teague to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Detectives on the scene interviewed seven witnesses. Police were able to get a clear description on the shooter.

In less than an hour, during a routine traffic stop, police pulled over a vehicle with a couple of passengers inside, and 20-year-old Dion Beals was inside.

Detectives believe Beals fired the fatal shots in the midst of the crowd.  In the vehicle were a couple of other passengers and two handguns.

According to witnesses, Beals targeted Teague specifically, for reasons not yet released by IMPD.

Prosecutors could release court documents later this week when Beals makes a court appearance.
