IMS to race fans: Drink lots of water this weekend

SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) – The Storm Track 8 team says it will be hot at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Brickyard 400.

They said heat indexes should reach triple digits on both Saturday and Sunday.

IMS President Doug Boles said the facility is making sure they are prepared to deal with the heat and keep fans safe.

“Weather is going to be a big concern for us. We are going to make sure everyone is hydrated. We are going to have cooling buses and stations. We are going to try to get that message out over the next few days. Heat is going to be the biggest issue. And it really just means that people are going to have to hydrate and pay attention to what’s going on. We are working with Doctor Billow and the team at the hospital to make sure we have the ability to take care of anybody that might be dehydrated,” Boles said.
