Indiana State Superintendent of Public Education McCormick not running for second term

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indiana State Superintendent of Public Education Dr. Jennifer McCormick will not run for a second term.

McCormick made the announcement at a Monday morning press conference, while laying out the organization’s agenda and goals for the next legislative session.

The Republican, who was first elected in November 2016 after defeating Democrat incumbent Glenda Ritz, said “things are complicated. The government structure is complicated.”

Prior to occupying her current position, McCormick was the the superintendent of Yorktown Community School.
