Indianapolis Indians make big plans for season opener

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The Indianapolis Indians take on the Columbus Clippers in the season opener Thursday.

The match-up will take place at Victory Field at 7:05 p.m. and The Tribe has a lot planned for the start of the 2015 season.

Josh Kaufman, local star and winner of ‘The Voice’, will sing the National Anthem to start the game. There will also be fireworks post-game, weather permitting.

If you want to make a day of the first game, you can take part in the annual tradition of ‘Bike to the Ballpark’. It’s a supervised 1.7-mile ride from Sun King Brewery to Victory Field.

It’s free and open to riders of all ages. Inside the park, adults can try out the new season’s Sun King Indians Lager.

There is a 60 degree weather guarantee in place, meaning if temperatures dip below 60, fans can exchange their ticket for any other April game.

The first 10,000 fans in the ball park will receive a magnet with the full 2015 Indians schedule on it.
