Indianapolis recives more than $6 million to fight homelessness

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indianapolis has received more than $6 million to combat homelessness.

Overall, more than $23 million was given statewide.

The announcement came Wednesday morning from the Housing and Urban Development and Mayor Joe Hogsett.

The state applied for the grant money for more resources to reach out to those without a home.

Some of the money will go specifically to help those who are homeless due to domestic violence.

Communities apply for the grants each year.

Hogsett said he wants to end homelessness in Indianapolis by 2023.
