Anonymous donations expand tutoring program

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) – Indianapolis-based Crossroads Education says it can now expand its tutoring program thanks to two anonymous donations totaling $500,000. The education provider says the donation will fund its effort to combat regression from school breaks, exacerbated as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The funding will be given to 10 schools in $50,000 grants. Crossroads says it will help expand its model by eliminating costs when preparing physical learning spaces with furniture and hardware. The funding will also provide e-learning access for students at the new school sites.

“At a time where many are triaging the immediate pandemic caused crisis in education, we are leading with practical strategies that schools can deploy at scale. Education models must shift,” said Dr. Kevin Berkopes, chief executive officer of Crossroads. “’Crossroads’ tutoring model was built to be a statewide strategy for how we can design blending learning into all levels of the system equitably across rural, urban, and suburban districts.”
