IPFW coach Coffman hopes Scott can be a recruiting magnet

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) – The transfer of Bryson Scott from Purdue to IPFW gives the Mastodons a local player who coach Jon Coffman hopes can be a recruiting magnet.

Coffman tells The Journal Gazette IPFW is trying to build its relevance in Fort Wayne and he hopes the former Northrop standout will help. Scott won’t be eligible to play for the Mastodons until the 2016-17 season.

In two seasons at Purdue, Scott played in 57 games, starting three. He averaged 5.1 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.5 assists. Scott says the move allows him to return home and to be himself. He’s looking forward to having the hometown support.

Coffman said the year without games will give Scott a chance to work on his game and become an even better player.
