K-9 search leads to large narcotics bust
BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — A K-9 officer alerted police to a large presence of narcotics inside a vehicle on Sunday night.
According to the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department, police responded to a possible intoxicated driver on Johnson Boulevard. The vehicle was parked in a parking lot of a nearby business.
Indiana State Police spoke with the occupants of the vehicle, identified as 26-year-old Seth Chelf and his passenger 41-year-old Kimberly Kirk. Police say Chelf appeared to be under the influence of some sort of narcotics. A K-9 officer was requested to search the vehicle.
The K-9 officer alerted officers to the presence of drugs in the car. Police found heroin, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Police say they also found heroin in Chelf’s pocket.
Chelf and Kirk were arrested on preliminary charges of possession of heroin, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and a handgun. Both were booked in the Bartholomew County Jail.
