INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – For delivery service companies, this time of year is like the Superbowl and locally, the team at FedEx is getting ready for the season.

There is a lot of activity throughout the month of December, but things at FedEx are just getting started. Between Black Friday and Christmas Eve, FedEx expects to ship nearly double the number of packages they usually do throughout the year.

Twelve million packages are shipped on a normal day, compared to the holiday season where the shipments reach 25 million plus. There are more than 400,000 workers across the country to help make that happen. There are 650 aircrafts landing every 30 minutes and 150,000 trucks taking the packages to your doorstep.

There are some dates you need to be aware of for FedEx. For ground transportation, the deadline is Friday, Dec. 14. If you plan to use Express Saver you need to ship by Wednesday, Dec. 19. If you plan to wait a little longer and use 2-day services, the deadline is Thursday, Dec. 20. Finally, for overnight services, you need to ship your package on Friday, Dec 21. FedEx does deliver packages on Christmas Eve.
