FRANKLIN, Ind. (Inside INdiana Business) — Indianapolis-based GDI Companies has started construction on a nearly 1 million-square-foot speculative distribution building in Franklin. The construction firm says the warehouse is going up in the 65 South Logistics Center, a 70-acre commercial park about a half-mile from the interstate.

GDI says it is partnering with Atlanta-based real estate developer Core5 on the project. This is their fifth collaboration in the Midwest over the past two years.

“Franklin Mayor (Steve) Barnett and his team have proven outstanding to work with, knowing what it takes and how to work collaboratively with the private sector, to bring a project of this magnitude to fruition in a very short period of time,” said GDI Companies Chief Executive Officer Terry McCardwell.

GDI says this new spec building will offer 352 trailer parking spaces and 95 dock positions.

Core5 is also planning to develop two warehouse facilities in Whiteland. It’s seeking tax abatement on those projects.
