Early voting numbers more than 2016 presidential election

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Monday is the last chance for early voting across Indiana and the last day before the election.

The Marion County Clerk’s Office has released the numbers so far from early voting and they are huge. According to the clerks office, Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018 was the largest day of in-person early voting ever in Marion County. Nearly 8,000 people came out to vote on Sunday.

After 22 days of early voting, more than 63,000 people have cast in-person early votes. When you add in mail-in ballots, the total number is more than 81,000 votes. Midterm early voter numbers are surpassing the early voting numbers for the 2016 presidential election.

This is also the first time in 10 years that Marion County has used satellite voting centers for early voting.

The only place you can vote early on Monday, Nov. 5 is at the City County Building downtown. The doors at the clerk’s office will open at 8 A.M. and close at noon. All early voting locations across the state are only open until noon.

As a reminder, to vote early, voters do not need a reason but must provide a valid photo id issued by the state of Indiana or federal government.
