House destroyed in westside fire

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A house is a complete loss following a fire on the city’s west side Thursday morning, according to the Wayne Township Fire Department.

Before 5:30 a.m., crews were called to a house fire in the 4700 block of West Melrose Avenue.

Upon arrival at the scene, crews found the structure heavily involved with fire.

However, crews from both WTFD and Speedway Fire Department were able to get the flames knocked down and eventually extinguished.

There was no one home at the time of the fire.

Four firefighters did sustain minor injuries but were treated and have since been released.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
