PanCan PurpleStride walk/run happening Saturday

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — People can expect to see plenty of purple this weekend representing the fight against pancreatic cancer.

An annual run and walk will raise awareness about the disease and raise money for research and support. Rob Beeler, Co-Chair of PanCan PuprleStride stopped by Daybreak to spread awareness about the disease and what people can expect at the event.

“So there’s been a lot of advancement over the last 10 years. The good news is that the five year survival rate has doubled in the last 10 years. The bad news, it’s still only 12% right, so it’s still not enough. Our goal is to be at 20% by 2030. And there’s been a lot of advancement in areas like immunotherapy,” Beller said.

Beeler says registration is still open to anyone wanting to join in on the walk whether their lives have been touch by pancreatic cancer or not. The White River Park Village opens at 9 a.m. and the walk/run will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday.
