Marion County deputy released from hospital after IHOP shooting

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A Marion County Sheriff’s deputy was shot inside a northwest side restaurant, according to an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer on scene. 

IMPD officers received a call of a person shot at 12:56 a.m. Saturday inside the International House of Pancakes (IHOP) at 6901 West 38th Street, near the intersection with I-465. 

Investigators later determined that Sergeant David Clemmons and Deputy Entwan Norris were attempting to stop a robbery at the location. 

Sgt. Clemmons suffered a gunshot wound to the leg during the incident and was later released from the hospital after being transported in fair condition. Deputy Norris was unharmed in the shooting.
