Montgomery Co. crash leaves 1 dead, 2 hospitalized
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – One person is dead and two others are in the hospital after a crash in Montgomery County.
Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched just after 7:15 a.m. to U.S. 136, just east of Nucor Road, for a report of a crash.
According to the sheriff’s office, the driver of one of the cars – 17-year-old Thomas Edwards of Crawfordsville – was pronounced dead at Franciscan Health Crawfordsville after being taken there.
The second vehicle was driven by 39-year-old Kelly Kruse of Crawfordsville and included a passenger – 37-year-old Matthew Garrett of Terre Haute. The sheriff’s office said both Kruse and Garrett were taken Franciscan Health Crawfordsville and later transferred to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
The crash is still under investigation and detectives are awaiting toxicology results.
U.S. 136 was closed for roughly four hours while authorities worked the crash scene. The roadway has since reopened.
