Pittsboro Police Department release names in North Maple Street murder/suicide
PITTSBORO, Ind. (WISH) — The PPD have identified a 39-year-old male, Brock Clossey and a 49-year-old female, Robin L. Longworth as the deceased. Authorities said it is the result of a murder/suicide in which Clossey shot and killed Longworth before turning the gun on himself.
Authorities say that indications point to there being evidence of a domestic dispute prior to the shooting.
Police said the investigation began around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.
A relative initially called police asking if someone could check on the female victim. Police said the relative hadn’t heard from the woman in days.
After entering the residence, a white male and female were discovered deceased from gunshot wounds, possibly for several days.
Police said a neighbor reportedly thought they heard a gunshot last week.
Police said the man and woman were in a relationship and lived together. Police mentioned that it appears the man shot the woman then turned the gun on himself.
24-Hour News 8 talked to people who lived nearby. They say the couple typically kept to themselves. “Their relationship seemed alright. There never was police called or anything to the house. Never did hear yelling or screaming,” said the neighbor who asked we conceal his identity.
“I was shocked,” said neighbor Emily Groff. “I never heard of crime happening here before and I was nervous because it was right next to my house.”
An autopsy was performed on the man and woman Tuesday afternoon.
Police said they haven’t investigated a homicide in Pittsboro in more than ten years.
