Police: Woman killed by boyfriend on near north side ID’d

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Police say a woman is dead after being killed by her boyfriend on the city’s near north side.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office identified the victim on Friday afternoon as 34-year-old Tasha Allen.

The incident happened in 1100 block of West 35th Street about 12:30 a.m. Friday.

Police say they believe the incident originally started as a domestic violence call.

After arriving on scene, they found the female victim unconscious. She was then transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital where she was pronounced deceased. The coroner’s office identified the cause of death as strangulation.

Tarik Fields, 42, who was also at the residence when police arrived on scene, has been arrested. He faces a preliminary charge of murder. No court date had yet been set.
