Scholarship program honoring Bishop Chatard teacher completes 3rd year
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A gathering Friday night raised money to help students in honor of former Bishop Chatard teacher Kyle Guyton.
In 2016, Guyton died in his sleep. The 22-year-old was chaperoning students on a school trip to Europe.
In his honor each year since his death, scholarships have been presented to students attending a postsecondary college or university and pursuing a major or minor in theater arts.
Friday’s event was the third fundraiser dinner and dessert auction for the Kyle J. Guyton Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Two students were awarded scholarships; one will attend Xavier University and the other will go to Indiana University Purdue University-Indianapolis.
Storm Track 8 Chief Meteorologist Ashley Brown co-hosted Friday’s event at the Willows on Westfield.
