School supply store for teachers opens satellite location

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Teachers’ Treasures is celebrating the opening of a new satellite store.

The store is inside Northwest Middle School, 5525 W. 34th St., on the city’s west side.

Teachers’ Treasures is a free store for teachers. It provides school supplies to help at-risk children.

The new location will allow the organization to reach teachers who haven’t been shopping at the main store, 1800 E. 10th St., on the near-east side.

Phil Shults, principal at Northwest Middle School, said, “Without the donations of our community resources, without the collaborative nature of the American College of Education and the Junior League of Indianapolis, teachers would have to spend their own money on these supplies. I have seen teachers walk out of this room with hundreds of dollars of supplies for their classroom to use for their students.”

Founded in 2000, Teachers’ Treasures serves more than 270 schools throughout the Indianapolis area.
