‘Sexting’ a 12-year-old leads to charges of Marion Co. man

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A man was charged after a 12-year-old girl’s father found explicit texts on her phone.

David Lane Freeman was charged last week with child solicitation, conspiracy to commit child exploitation, possession of child pornography and dissemination of matter harmful to minors.

A father called police after he saw inappropriate texts from 20-year-old David Freeman to his 12-year-old daughter.

It was later discovered that the pair had been sending explicit photos to each other over Snapchat, a social media app.

The suspect attends the same church as the victim.

They had been messaging since July, 2015.

Freeman later admitted that he knew that the girl was 12 the whole time they were talking. Freeman said he knew what they were doing was wrong but he continued because “he enjoyed talking to her,” according to court documents. He even told the girl that he knew what they were doing was illegal and that if anyone found out, he could go to jail.

Freeman began asking the girl for explicit photos and she sent one after initial hesitation.

The girl’s father told Freeman not to talk to her anymore. He also called Freeman’s parents.
