Sullivan man gets 120 years for killing stepsister, fetus
SULLIVAN, Ind. (AP) – A judge has sentenced a southwestern Indiana man to 120 years in prison for the strangulation death of his pregnant stepsister.
Sullivan Superior Court Judge Hugh Hunt sentenced 33-year-old Johnus Orr of Sullivan on Friday after he was found guilty earlier this month of two counts of murder in the deaths of 20-year-old Tiffanie Adams and her viable fetus. She was eight months pregnant.
Hunt said Adams should have had no reason to fear death at the hands of her stepbrother and that her unborn son was “completely vulnerable.”
Adams’ body was found in a farm field in December 2014 about seven weeks after she was last seen alive.
Orr made no statements. His attorney, John Kesler, said Orr maintains his innocence and will appeal the conviction and sentence.
