Teen gets 10 years for rape at Lawrence Central High School

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A former Lawrence Central High School student was sentenced Thursday for raping a girl.

Jabril Scruggs was sentenced to 10 years in the Indiana Department of Correction, with four years suspended. He’ll also get credit for 877 days he’s already served in jail.

Officials say Scruggs raped a fellow student in a school hallway in March of 2014. At the time of the rape, Scruggs was 16-years-old and was charged as an adult.

He’s also charged with murder in a separate case.

Scruggs is accused of killing 16-year-old James Johnson in 2013. He’s set to go on trial for that case in October.
