Unseasonably cold temperatures over next few days

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Temperatures won’t make it out of the 20s Tuesday afternoon across central Indiana. The pattern will turn active for the end of the workweek.

Tonight:

Scattered snow showers and gusty winds will gradually diminish as we head into the evening hours.  Temperatures will continue to fall quickly, which could allow for some already wet roads to become icy in untreated spots.

Main story will be the cold temperatures overnight. Lows will dip to the upper teens and lower 20s.  Wind chills will likely be in the single digits Tuesday morning.

Tuesday:

Dry weather settles in. Expect mostly sunny conditions with highs only in the upper 20s – and a good 25 degrees colder than normal.

Wednesday:

Another dry day with cold temps ahead. Highs should make it into the 30s, but barely. We’ll be right at the freezing point Wednesday afternoon in the Indy metro.

8 day forecast:

Pattern becomes unsettled for the end of the week into the weekend. Weak disturbance moves in Thursday evening, squeezing out light rain and snow showers. A brief break for Friday, before a more potent system surges in for Saturday. Warmer temperatures, along with steady rain showers is on tap to kick off the weekend, with scattered rain showers possible for Sunday. Highs should jump to the middle to upper 40s starting Friday.
