USPS releasing forever stamp honoring President George H.W. Bush

(CNN) — The United States Postal Service announced late President George H.W. Bush will be honored with his own forever stamp.

Bush died late last year at the age of 94.

The stamp features a portrait of Bush painted by award-winning artist Michael J. Deas. The portrait is based on a 1997 photograph taken by Timothy Greenfield-Sanders.

The first-day-of-issue ceremony will be held on Bush’s birthday, June 12, at the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum in College Station, Texas.

The stamp is available for pre-order with a delivery date expected on or after the ceremony.
