Watch: Giants catcher Buster Posey makes perfect throw to unsuspecting pitcher’s glove
SAN FRANCISCO (MEDIA GENERAL) – Sports are great for many reasons, and one of them are daily clips of people doing ridiculous things.
Sometimes, sports allow us to marvel at pure athleticism – like watching Calvin Johnson run, twist and outleap defenders to haul in a pass. Sometimes they allow us to witness skill at its purest form – like watching Steph Curry put up laser-guided shots from anywhere on the court.
But perhaps most entertaining of all, sports provide bloopers. Glorious, gut-busting bloopers.
Not all bloopers are created equal. Sometimes, they are silly mistakes or massive errors. Sometimes, they are just beautiful, “I can’t believe that happened” moments of chance. On Saturday, baseball fans were treated to the latter.
During Saturday’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, San Francisco catcher Buster Posey pulled off one of the most perfect throws in the history of the game.
Following a checked swing, pitcher Jake Peavy turned his attention away from Posey to argue the call with the third-base umpire.
Posey threw the ball back to Peavy – who now has his head turned – but it hits the pitcher in the shoulder and caroms into his unsuspecting glove.
Bloopers are the best.
