Wet weather returns, what to know for the weekend’s forecast

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – After a dry end to the work week, wet weather returns Saturday and Sunday.

Here are some things to know for the weekend’s forecast:

A large upper level system will move in from the southern Plains Saturday. Expect widespread rain to move into central Indiana by mid morning, and continues through much of the day. A few isolated thunderstorms will be possible.

There is a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms Saturday afternoon, mainly for the southern half of the state. Large hail, with damaging winds will be the main threat. A brief tornado can’t be ruled out.

Steady rain should move out by this evening, leaving most of the area dry during the overnight.

Low pressure will spin over the state Sunday, leading to scattered thunderstorms throughout the day. Storms should stay below severe limits, but could produce small hail and heavy rain, along with frequent lightning.

Much of next week looks dry, with the exception of Wednesday, with high temperatures slightly below normal.
