Hildebrand gets Indy 500 ride with CFH Racing

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – CFH Racing has found its third entry for both the Indianapolis 500 and the Grand Prix of Indianapolis with the addition of JR Hildebrand.

Hildebrand nearly won the Indy 500 as a rookie in 2011, but he crashed exiting the final turn and was passed for the win by the late Dan Wheldon.

Hildebrand will drive the No. 6 Chevrolet for the May 9 Grand Prix and the May 24 Indianapolis 500.

The 27-year-old Hildebrand will make his fifth Indianapolis 500 start and his first in the Grand Prix. In his four races at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Hildebrand has two top-10 starts and two top-10 finishes.

He joins Josef Newgarden and team co-owner Ed Carpenter in the Indy 500, and Newgarden and Luca Filippi for the Grand Prix.
