The heat rolls on this week

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Well above average temperatures and dry conditions continue through the remainder of the work week.

The heat streak rolls on across central Indiana.  Today marks another day at 80° or above – the 17th time we’ve hit that mark for the month of May.  We typically only average around 9 days at or above 80° for the month.  It’s the most we’ve had since 2017 (17), and the record is 21 days (1977).  That record is very much in jeopardy of being broken with a week to go in the month.

TONIGHT:

Mainly clear, quiet and comfortable.  Overnight lows dip to the upper 50s to around 60°

THURSDAY:

Another fantastic day on tap.  Mostly sunny skies, relatively low humidity, and very warm temperatures.  Highs top out in the middle 80s.

CARB DAY:

The day will remain dry.  Temperatures will also stay hot, and humidity will be on the rise.  Expect highs to hit the middle to upper 80s.

RACE WEEKEND:

A boundary sliding through the area will bring an isolated chance for showers and storms both Saturday and Sunday.  There will be many more dry hours than wet hours, so not too concerned at this time for a major washout of the parade, Legends Day, or the race itself.  Best chances for precipitation both days will come with the peak heating of the day – mainly in the afternoon hours.  Highs top out in the upper 80s both days.

8 Day Forecast:

Looks dry for Memorial Day, with highs pushing 90°.  Next chance for rain returns Wednesday and Thursday of next week.
