On The Rocks: Making a Manhattan with Elijah Craig rye
Today on All Indiana Bets, Brennen Lockhart, bar manager at Wiseguy Lounge, crafted a classic Manhattan with Elijah Craig Rye. Bernie Lubbers, global whiskey ambassador, and Brent Holverson, regional sales manager for Heaven Hill Brands, joined us to tell us more about it.
The Elijah Craig Rye has extra aged rye, aged for a minimum of 8 years! The small batch rye is 94 proof, and Bernie said it has a nice punch for making a Manhattan.
Brennen told us people have been making Manhattans with rye since the Prohibition era!
Here is the recipe for a Manhattan:
Elijah Craig Rye 2oz
Sweet Vermouth .75 oz
Angostura Bitters – 2 dashes
Cherry for garnish
