4 injured in crash involving semi on State Road 28
TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – The Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office is asking drivers to avoid using State Road 28 as they are still on scene following a crash.
The incident happened around 9 a.m. in the 3100 block of State Road 28 between U.S. 52 and the town of Romney.
According to the sheriff’s office, a truck heading east on SR 28 crossed the center line for an unknown reason and hit the side of a semi traveling west, causing the truck to flip over.
Three people riding inside the truck were injured. The front seat passenger was airlifted to a hospital in Indianapolis. The driver was taken to a Lafayette hospital with several broken bones. The backseat passenger was also taken to an area hospital.
The semi driver was taken to an area hospital for evaluation.
A crash reconstructionist is on scene.
In addition to the sheriff’s office, responding agencies include Indiana State Police and Clarks Hill, Laramie and Wea Ridge fire departments.
