Cooler and wet weekend expected

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – With colder temperatures moving in for Saturday and Sunday, it’s a reminder that winter isn’t quite over yet across central Indiana.

Light showers have moved in for the southern half of the state Saturday morning. Expect rain to continue for areas south of I-70 for much of Saturday morning.

While everyone will still experience temperatures above freezing, the air maybe just cold enough for some snowflakes to mix in with the rain for areas on the northern edge of the rain, Saturday morning.

For areas north of I-70, it should be a relatively dry morning, with the exception of a few sprinkles/flurries possible.

By Saturday afternoon, the rain shield should move out. We’ll likely see isolated to scattered showers through much of the second half of Saturday.

Another wave will move in from the northwest late Saturday night into the overnight, sparking a mix of rain and snow across the area just after midnight. No accumulation is expected.

Gradual clearing skies is forecast for Sunday. Highs will only top out in the mid 40s, about 8-10 degrees below average, Saturday and Sunday.
