Man critically injured in shooting on northeast side later dies at hospital

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A man shot on the city’s northeast side early Friday morning died at the hospital Friday night, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said Saturday.

Before 2:30 a.m., officers were called to the 4500 block of Park Forest Court for a report of a person shot.

Once on the scene officers located a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of the man’s death.

Police have identified the individual believed to be responsible for the shooting, IMPD said Saturday. The person was interviewed and released pending further investigation. IMPD does not believe there is a threat to the community.
