Vandals hit Little Free Library 3 times in past week

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A free-standing, street-side cabinet that holds books for people to share has been the repeated target of vandals.

Thom Woodard started the Little Free Library in the Butler-Tarkington neighborhood in 2015.

Woodard says the library has been attacked three times in the past week. He shared pictures of the damage with News 8.

In one incident, all of the books inside were removed. In another incident, someone poured a can of soup inside the cabinet.

“I don’t exactly know the motivation, but the vandals aren’t hurting me. What you’re doing is taking books, and you’re destroying the library that’s there for others. … What you’re doing is you’re making it so somebody else can’t get access to the books,” Woodard told News 8.

Woodard says he has filed a police report over the damage.
