Gas station shooter takes plea deal, sentenced to 20 years
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The man accused of shooting a gas station clerk last year took a plea deal and was sentenced on Tuesday.
As part of the plea deal, attempted murder charges were dropped against Terrance Harris. He plead guilty to robbery resulting in serious bodily injury and was sentenced to 20 years.
According to police, Harris shot a gas station clerk at the Speedway near 71st Street and Keystone Avenue just after 1 a.m. in October.
Police said Harris came into the store and asked for nachos. There was a short exchange between the clerk and Harris. Witnesses initially told police Harris seemed incoherent.
They say he left the store, then came back in, pulled out a revolver and shot the clerk at point blank range. The clerk survived his injuries.
Harris spent nearly seven hours on the run before family members turned him over to police after they saw the surveillance photos that were released.
