Guilty plea in Lafayette double homicide
LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – A Delphi man pleaded guilty Tuesday to charges connected to a double homicide in Lafayette in August, 2015.
Jacob Guffey pleaded guilty to two counts of murder and one count of auto theft.
Guffey and Matthew Oertel, of Lafayette, were charged in the murders of 36-year-old Aaron Hunter, Junior, and 46-year-old Terry Smith, Junior, in a home on Perrine Street. Both men died of gunshot wounds.
Tippecanoe County Prosecutor Pat Harrington says Guffey faces 55 to 67 years in prison. He scheduled to be sentenced on October 6.
Matthew Oertel is still set for a jury trial in the case.
