IMPD looking to speak with father of 8-year-old killed on Sunday

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is looking to talk with the father of an 8-year-old who was shot and killed Sunday night.

IMPD said it is still working to figure out what led up to the shooting and whether it was an accident. Investigators said they are hoping Kendall Brye can help answer those questions.

He is the father of 8-year-old Kendrielle Brye, who died in the shooting.

IMPD said it believes Kendall was inside the home when the shooting happened. However, investigators said since they can’t reach him, they consider Kendall Brye armed and dangerous.

Police believe he is driving a gray or silver 2016 Dodge Charger, with the license plate IP1340. Anyone is encouraged to call 317-262-(8477) TIPS with information.

IMPD said Kendrielle was taken by family members to an Indianapolis fire house, after she had been shot. She was then transported to Riley Hospital for Children, where she died. Hours later, IMPD went to the 5600 block of Culver Street, where investigators said Kendrielle was shot.

Her family wasn’t home on Monday but relatives created a GoFundMe page.

Neighbors said they had seen her riding around on a pink bike as recently as this weekend. They said she was friendly and are shocked about what happened on Sunday.
