Local company moving headquarters to Speedway

SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) —  Another new business is moving its headquarters to Speedway.

Tuesday afternoon, Wilcox Environmental Engineering will host a groundbreaking ceremony at its new location. The town has been working to redevelop the area over the past few years.

Wilcox will move its headquarters in to the historic Rosner building at 16th and Main.

Officials said they hope to finish renovating and adding on to the Rosner building by December. Wilcox will be the biggest tenant in the 16,000 square foot Rosner building. 3,600 square feet on the first floor will be available for lease. Wilcox said the new headquarters will help it continue to grow and hire more employees.

Wilcox officials said the company has nearly doubled its workers over the past several years, going from around 30 employees to more than 50 staff in three states.

Speedway Town Council President David Lindsey spoke about the development in a statement on the Wilcox company blog.

“We’re thrilled that Wilcox has chosen to locate their headquarters on Main Street. From the earliest days of our redevelopment efforts, Wilcox has been a strong partner in the community. This project shows their belief that Main Street is not only a vibrant destination, but also a great place to grow a business,” said Lindsey.

This is just the latest business to move to Speedway in recent years, as officials work to revitalize the community. Recently, Sarah Fisher’s go-kart facility and Daredevil brewing have opened. In addition, several racing teams have moved officers or headquarters to Speedway.

The Wilcox groundbreaking ceremony will start at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Speedway officials, Wilcox leaders and developers will be there.
