Church members, police officers taken to hospital after water rescue

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — A water rescue in Noblesville Friday night ended with a driver, a bystander, two police officers and a sheriff’s deputy in the hospital.

A car went into a pond near Grace Church, on 146th Street between Gray Road and Hazel Dell Parkway, Friday night just before 10 p.m., according to Noblesville Fire Battalion Chief John Snethen.

According to Noblesville Fire Department, a woman who had been attending an event at the church veered out of the parking lot and drove the car into a pond near the church. She was able to climb onto the roof of the car, and a church member who saw what happened and emergency responders were able to help her to shore.

The driver, the church member, two police officers and sheriff’s deputy were taken to hospitals for symptoms of hypothermia. They are all in good condition.

Fire officials believe a medical issue could have been involved in the incident.
